It's hard to wrap your head around the media's constant desire for conflict and strife in the political faction that represents the sanity of this nation, the Democratic Party. Yet, even on a mainstream show like Face the Nation, the host vastly over-exaggerates the small percentage of Bernie Sander's supporters who are "Bernie or Busters" and will never vote for Secretary Clinton. Period. They are not numerous enough to stress out about, when there are so many more who are willing to act rationally and who have stopped being 'ridiculous.' (H/T Sarah Silverman).
Senator Sanders set Dickerson straight and explained that we are focusing on the majority here and they need to focus on the issues, not the personalities running for POTUS. Sanders realizes this election has consequences for more than forty years, especially with so many SCOTUS seats in play in the near future. The need to foment conflict among like-minded Americans who care about education, human rights, science and other 'liberal' values is really detrimental to our safety, especially when we are faced with a megalomaniac like Trump.
SANDERS: We have over 13 million people who supported my candidacy. And I have no doubt that there are some of those people who will not vote for Hillary Clinton. But I would say that the vast majority of them -- and I think as the campaign progresses and people take a hard look at the issues -- I think more and more of those people will come on board Sec. Clinton's campaign.
Many of Sanders' supporters showed up at the Democratic convention in Philadelphia last week determined to make trouble for the nominee-to-be Clinton. Some of them walked out or booed during speeches, and many pro-Sanders protesters held court outside the convention site. But Sanders spoke on Clinton's behalf Monday night, and was the one to formally nominate her for president, all efforts on his part to unify the party behind her candidacy.
I would ask ... of my supporters to get away from the personality conflicts that media tries to bring forward and focus on the real issues impacting the American people And when you do that, I think the choice is pretty clear and that is that Hillary Clinton is far and away the superior candidate.
Dickerson said that he hated to stick up for the media. The host insisted that this (vast number of dissenters) isn't just a media creation, some of his supporters were going nuts during Hillary's speech. Bernie said, "I don't agree with you, they are not buying it. I have no doubt there are some of those people who won't vote for Hillary Clinton. But the vast majority will."
Oh, but it's not the media's fault. They never start a news package with a snide remark about Hillary Clinton's so-called 'trustworthiness or likability' "problem." It couldn't possibly be that semi-subliminal, message that many millennials have been fed their whole lives, never hearing any complimentary stories about her. Like it or not, it's been over twenty-five years of the blameless media's incessant blacklisting of Secretary Clinton; and when the MSM is asked for specifics?....Well, frankly, they're never second-guessed. They can simply create a narrative and there's not much anyone can do about it, until a citrus-colored buffoon shakes things up a bit and evens the odds.
That's why what Senator Sanders is doing is even more important and necessary.
Senator Sanders said he will go around the country and do his best and make the case for Hillary Clinton. And that's exactly what we need. His monumental contribution to Hillary's campaign is immeasurable, and we'll see the fruits of his efforts and future generations will appreciate his work Thank you Bernie!
There really is no choice here. It's Clinton/Kaine or Trumpence: a dystopian, post-apocalyptic hellscape, sort of like the world in I Am Legend. And no, this is not hyperbole.
