One might think that garnering the endorsement of the KKK would do irreparable damage to any American Presidential campaign. However, Donald Trump's GOP welcomes all sorts of detestable creatures who hold radically militant views about our government. The election of the nation's first Black President unearthed many of these people, and Donald's Birther movement attracted the militants and White Supremacists to the Republican nominee.
One of these nativist militia members intends to take action against government officials by pledging to invoke the sacred 2nd Amendment. David Riden, proudly representing Tennessee's fringe element, is also a Trump delegate. Riden helped draft The Articles Of Freedom, a militaristic and theocratic declaration to uphold the Constitution that he claims has been disregarded.
The insanity of having a documented nativist militiaman in the Trump delegation was reported by Mother Jones:
Last December, Donald Trump's presidential campaign approved David Riden to be a delegate candidate on the Tennessee ballot, and when the state held its primary in March, voters selected Riden to go to the Republican National Convention. When Riden represents Trump there in July, it will not be his first time as a delegate to a political gathering.
Seven years ago in Illinois he attended the so-called "Continental Congress of 2009," where he and other delegates put forth "Articles of Freedom" that called for abolishing all federal firearms laws, replacing the Department of Homeland Security with citizen militias, and, if necessary, launching an insurrection against the federal government.
This unhinged man believes that members of all three branches of government are 'way off away from The Constitution' and it is the duty of sovereign citizens to bare arms and rid the government of this 'tyranny.'
Riden says:
The Constitution should remain, but the people that are abusing it should be, the polite word is, eliminated. The harsh word is killed. And they're killed by American citizens with weapons. And if people have tanks, assault weapons, if they have bombs—they need to have the weaponry necessary to be able to overthrow the federal government.
Riden isn't the only one. There's another militia-member with serious paranoia issues who is well-known in Maryland Republican politics. Collins Bailey ran, unsuccessfully, for Congress in 2008 and 2010. His son Caleb is notorious for stockpiling weapons and child pornography. Of course, the Trump people had to denounce Caleb over the child pornography, and remove him from the delegate list, but Collins is still on the list.
Collins A. Bailey of Waldorf, Maryland, who was authorized by Trump as a nominee from that state’s 5th Congressional District, wrote an essay in 1995 that appeared [sic] in a newsletter of a Patriot organization called United Sovereigns of America. Bailey lauded a debate by Patrick Henry about organizing militias opposite a British, yet he gave no references to contemporary militias. A concomitant essay in a newsletter, however, urged readers to “stockpile food, water, guns and ammunition.”
Trump has cornered the White Supremacist electorate and has made at least one of them his actual delegate. We learned in May about William Johnson, the leader of the American Freedom Party, a group that "exists to represent the political interests of White Americans" and aims to preserve "the customs and heritage of the European American people." Johnson is representing California as a delegate to the RNC.
The militiamen white supremacist types who support Donald Trump have only begun to come out of the woodwork. How many more Trump backers will be discovered to have racist seditionist ties before November?
