As a sad week has elapsed since the horrific Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando. A few funerals have already come and gone, but the shock and horror have hardly subsided. Naturally, the high death toll can be attributed to the super-efficient killing machine, the Sig Sauer MCX(Trump's company) assault rifle the gunman had in hand that night.
As predictably awful as expected, Republicans are united in defending the gun manufacturers and lobbyists from any culpability in this tragedy, even though the worst mass shootings have this one common denominator: assault, military grade weapons that are open to the public. In Florida, especially, we know that obtaining an assault rifle is so easy, you don't have to even have a license or permit to own one, whereas a handgun you must (see, because it's held in one hand).
Those FACTS don't seem to permeate the thick membrane in ex-Arkansas Governor, Mike Huckabee grey matter. He says that it's not the weaponry, it's the ideology that is the culprit in this latest massacre.
HUCKABEE: If you think it's the specific weaponry (that's the problem) you want to vote for Hillary Clinton. Because, she thinks if we get rid of guns in the hands of law abiding citizens, magically, terrorism will stop.
Of course, she said nothing of the sort, and the ruse that she wants to rid the US of the Second Amendment is another Trumpesque lie. He continues.
If you think it's the ideology, then you'd better vote for Donald Trump. Because he understands that the common denominator, it's not the choice of weapon. It might be a pressure cooker in Boston or it might be a bomb or a knife in Tel Aviv...
Here's the problem with this analogy and pretty much every other mass shooting on the top 5 deadliest. The only one that was inspired, perhaps, by Islamic extremism perverted by deranged people was actually San Bernardino. Orlando, we have learned, was perpetrated with a person troubled by not just hatred of a specific ethnic group, but by a conflicted person whose upbringing did not permit him to be the person he likely was: a gay man.
The last person who should be involved in a case where the father was likely the catalyst of a horrific act is Huckabee. He covered up his own son's record of animal cruelty and should not be the moral authority on ANYTHING.
