Fox News' Erick Erickson tells us in an article he published that if the media reports the Orlando story accurately, it's creating a "dividing line" in America.

The terrorist attack in Orlando was a horrible tragedy. Within twelve hours though, the way the media chose to report on the event was that this was a tragedy in the gay community. That is an unnecessary dividing line. The terrorist attack was a tragedy in the American community.

Of course this shooting was a horrible tragedy for America, and I didn't see a newsman or politician describe it any other way.

However, it has to be reported accurately and that's what has made Erickson's skin crawl. To religious right and anti-LGBT figures like Erickson, the gay community is destroying America and changing social conservative values they want to impose on our nation so DO NOT report this horrific event as an attack on gays because it humanizes them instead of demonizes them.

The shooter targeted the gay community out of hatred for them, period.

Making this about gay rights or the gay community or just Orlando creates an unnecessary dividing line. The United States has come under attack, but the American left would rather blame us than the enemy.

I wonder what Erickson would have said if the Orlando massacre had killed roughly 50 Christians?
