On Fox News Sunday, Newt Gingrich, who has been rumored to be in the running for Trump's VP, called out Donald for attacking the heritage of Gonzalo Curiel, the federal judge presiding over one of his lawsuits.
He said, "This is one of the worst mistakes Trump has made and I think it's inexcusable."
Trump joined his pals at Fox and Friends this morning and responded to Gingrich's criticisms by saying, "...as far as Newt is concerned, I saw Newt, I was surprised at Newt. I thought it was inappropriate of what he said."
Steve Doocey followed by explaining Newt's feelings on the matter and said that Curiel was appointed by Arnold Schwarzenegger, but Trump retorted that he was appointed to the federal bench by President Obama.
After cutting the video I was pretty surprised at Trump's almost tame criticism of Gingrich. All in all this was a pretty minor attack on Gingrich, who usually goes for the throat against anybody he feels hasn't treated him fairly.
Rumors are that Trump wants somebody with congressional experience so maybe he'll forgive Gingrich this one transgression.
