It seems that Megyn Kelly and Bill-O did not confer prior to their on-air appearances last night, as they expressed opposite opinions on the Trump University/Gonzalo Curiél case. O'Reilly somehow defended Donald Trump's appalling attack on the ethnicity of the Trump University judge. Many Republicans have come out against Trump including Newt Gingrich, Lindsey Graham and John Kasich. O'Reilly, however, remains in Trump's corner. Maybe Roger Ailes has set O'Reilly aside as the Fox Host Token to maintain access to that petulant candidate with a short fuse?
Summing up, the Trump U. case is certainly political to some extent, and it's a very high profile situation. Because of that, Talking Points believes the judge should recuse himself. Not because he did anything wrong, he didn't, but to eliminate any doubt as to the motivation in court rulings.
There are plenty of federal judges that could immediately step in. It is valid that some may see any recusal as caving to intimidation. But stark justice in a case this important, trumps, pardon the pun, any theoretical argument.
Apparently in a Trump administration, there will be enough enablers to allow the tyrant to capriciously change all the tenets of our judicial system, and more. This is a dangerous precedent, but clearly O'Reilly sees this as a means to keep his income flowing. Money trumps all, when voting for someone like Donald Trump...or working for Fox News.
