I know Paul Manafort is getting paid well by Donald Trump and this morning on CNN's State of The Union, he earned his money.
Host Jake Tapper peppered the Trump advisor with questions about the newly released Trump Tapes by the Washington Post, that has, what appears to be Trump masquerading as a PR flack to promote himself.
In the past Trump has admitted posing as his own spokesman, but when asked about the tapes, Donald is now denying it and recently told The Today Show, "It was not me on the phone."
Tapper asked, "Are you seriously, is the campaign seriously claiming that isn't Mr. Trump?"
Manafort answered, "I could barely understand it. I couldn't tell who it is. Donald Trump says it's not him, I believe it's not him"
First of all, Manafort must be the only person in America, who could "barely understand" the tapes. Not only does it sound exactly like Trump, but after "John Miller" used the word "tremendous," it was all over.
After Manafort still denied believing the tapes were Donald's, even after Trump admitted using the names John Barron and Miller, he then questioned the relevance of the tapes pertaining to the presidential run.
Paul continued, "It's twenty five years old"
At the time of the tapes, Trump was well over forty years old, so it's not like he didn't understand the ramifications of impersonating oneself to try and fool the media. It's a yuge character issue, if nothing else.
Manafort continued, "Why the media is spending so much time, going back twenty five years to talk about People magazine, a tape which may or may not be Trump is totally irrelevant."
Tapper reminded Manafort that Trump has brought up things from twenty five years ago in Bill Clinton's past and others he smears, but that doesn't count I guess.
We need a new acronym to account for Trump's presidential run. How about instead of "IOKIYAR," we'll change it to "IOKIYDT"
Tapper said, "Here you have a man in his forties, allegedly, acting as his own public relations agent - bragging about his exploits with women, while he's married to Ivana Trump, the mother of his three children, and speaks to a certain type of character issue, don't you think?"
Here's where Manafort earns his cash.
"But the tape has not proven that it's him. The justification for the tape is, words that are on that tape are words Donald Trump uses. I've been working for Donald Trump for six weeks, I'm using words he's using. I'm not the person on that tape."
Hahahahaha.
Manafort sounds and speaks nothing like Donald Trump. It's evident from this clip I just posted and in any interview Manafort has given so far.
What a ridiculous defense of Donald Trump by Manafort. As the Beatles sang, money "can't buy him love," but it sure can buy a lot of horse manure.
