Want to see how bad the job market is? Look no farther than this IT job posting from last week's Craigslist offering $9.50 an hour and listing it as "entry level" while simultaneously requiring a ridiculous amount of skills and certifications.
The lengthy list of requirements to fill this "entry-level" position are a comprehensive list of advanced skills that are the exact opposite of entry level. They include IP routing and switching, database software installation and administration to server hardware expertise. Candidates are also expected to be proficient in scripting in a half dozen or more programming languages. Seems that candidates with those skills would be earning more than $9.50 an hour.
And for those that make the horrible mistake of applying to the job without the requisite skills? It threatens "Those who apply and do not meet our requirements will be placed on the DO NOT HIRE blacklist for the Austin area".
Something tells me this employer also charges you for desk supplies, rations toilet paper and uses a stop watch to clock bathroom breaks.
