Longtime conservative pundit and Trump supporter, Ann Coulter, tried to defend Donald Trump for his refusal to release his tax returns on MSNBC's Hardball, Monday.
Coulter told Chris Matthews, "I think the reason he says he won't release them - IS - the reason he won't release them."
She quickly turned the discussion into an SNL skit by equating releasing Trump's tax returns to self-incriminating when you're being charged with murder. "For people to go around and say, 'Oh, but, it's legal for you to release them' well, yeah, somebody charged with murder. it's legal for him to go out and talk to the press, I'm pretty sure his lawyer is going to tell him not to."
However, she did make the only case why Donald Trump is refusing to release his tax returns. They will be heavily scrutinized by the public, just like every other presidential candidate has before him. That's too dangerous for the Dapper Don.
Please note that the Clintons have released 33 years of tax returns. They've been married 41 years this October. Two things Donald can never say about his pathetic self. .
David Corn quickly jumped into the debate, mocking her and Trump over his refusal and her defense.
Coulter: "If he releases his tax returns...what he is doing is releasing every tax attorney in America to pour through his tax returns....(Corn off camera: "Ohhhh") ...to do Pro bono work for the IRS..."
Corn: "Poor baby."
Coulter: Well, why should he?
Corn: “Every other president has done that, including Dick Nixon when he was under audit because you can tell whether he’s hiding money offshore, whether he gives money to charity..."
Coulter: “Exactly, why should he?”
Corn: “OK, so that’s good — you want a crook in the White House that’s fine, Ann. You can go ahead and do that.”
Coulter: “He’s not a crook”
“We don’t know if he’s a crook or not,” Corn said.
Coulter: “We don’t know if you’re a crook.”
Corn: "We do not know what his finances are."
With all the talk about Trump's ties to the Mafia and mentions in the Panama Papers, it's no wonder he's refusing to release his tax returns. And given the level of scrutiny Hillary Clinton has endured for decades from liars like Ann Coulter, it's pathetic that Donald Trump is such a total wimp. Really Donald? You need Ann Coulter to come up with stupid excuses why you shouldn't be subject to the basic rules of running for President? Sad!
