Obviously the news of the last couple of days has swirled on who is "qualified" and unqualified" to be president in the Democratic party.

I believe Bernie Sanders was traveling so he was probably trying to rest while heading to Philadelphia, but his campaign manager Jeff Weaver has been all over television.

He joined Carol Costello on CNN's Newsroom this morning and she asked him what he thought of this back and forth between the campaigns, "some people might say it's getting downright nasty."

Weaver replied, "Since the Clinton campaign had lost seven of the last eight contests, now has taken a very nasty turn and Senator Sanders wanted to demonstrate and did demonstrate that if that's the kind of campaign they want to run, they can expect it in kind."

Costello followed up with, "Calling Hillary Clinton, a former US Secretary of State, a former US Senator, not qualified to be president. Is that going too far?"

Here's where Jeff Weaver leveled an eviscerating line of attack against the former SOS.

Well, I think if you look at her record, if you look at her campaign, you know, her campaign is funded by millions and millions of dollars from Wall Street and other special interests. She’s really made a deal with the devil, and we all know the devil wants his money in the end.

So that’s the kind of campaign she’s running. She supported the terrible trade deals which have devastated American manufacturing in this country. She supported the war in Iraq. She continues to have a very, very hawkish foreign policy that has led to the rise and expansion of ISIS throughout the Middle East.

I hate getting involved in the day-to-day food fights and I agree with many of Bernie Sanders' economic positions, but by Weaver using Trump's ISIS argument against Clinton, I think I should say something.

First of all, it was President Obama's foreign policy that she was implementing since she worked for him and the wars and fallout from those wars are George Bush and Dick Cheney's creations as was the creation of ISIS. To use right-wing standard attack lines against a Democratic opponent is not a good thing.

Back in 2008, when Mark Penn, the former Hillary Clinton campaign manager was causing considerable damage and turmoil to her campaign against Barack Obama, we all roundly criticized him and he eventually resigned from the position.

And now I believe Weaver is behaving very badly and is hurting Sanders in the process. Bernie is riding a winning streak heading into New York. Why take these actions now that could possibly blunt his momentum?

It was most likely Weaver, who fired up Sanders to go after Clinton like he has by using the Washington Post headline to do it.

He took the CNN report that the Clinton campaign was going to up its game against Bernie and counseled him to go on the offensive in a big way. This could back fire big time, since Clinton's campaign hasn't done the "nasty" things that Weaver is saying they have so far. Has Clinton been aggressive? Yes, but not to the point where she disparaged Sen. Sanders in such a callous way.

I understand Jeff is as trusted an advisor as Bernie has, and they have a long friendship, but The Washington Post just fact-checked this line of attack and declared, Sanders’s incorrect claim that Clinton called him ‘not qualified’ for the presidency.

That doesn't help Bernie's campaign at all, especially when all eyes are upon them.
