Today, a $6 million settlement was announced in the shooting death of Tamir Rice. While the money will certainly not bring back a dead 12-year old, it is at least tacit admission that a wrong was done to this family.

The Cleveland Police Patrolman Association -- the union representing police in that city -- was having none of that. None whatsoever.

In what is likely to be their parting shot at the Rice family, they issued a statement. A bitter, nasty, finger-pointing statement.

TPM:

We can only hope the Rice family and their attorneys will use a portion of this settlement to help educate the youth of Cleveland in the dangers associated with the mishandling of both real and facsimile firearms,” Loomis said in the statement.

Rice, who was black, was fatally shot by a white police officer while playing with a pellet gun outside a recreation center in 2014. The toy gun was missing the orange tip intended to signal that it was fake.

Fck that. Maybe the union should spend some money to educate their members on how not to shoot 12-year old boys.
