Thankfully, our late night comedy shows have a terrific way of dealing with the stupidity espoused by our Mainstream Media. The Daily Show expertly embarrassed the Republicans' moronic reaction to the President's visit to Cuba, which coincided with the Belgian terror attacks. It was hardly a challenge to reveal their incompetence and immaturity with their own sound bites. The worst ones came from the self-loathing immigrant and Cuban-Canadian GOP Presidential candidate, Ted Cruz.
Cruz comments about the President 'yukking it up' with the Castro's Communist Dictator at a baseball game. As if anyone cares, Cruz believed that the situation called for an immediate return to the U.S. and the disruption of the President's plans, just like the terrorists would like. But this panicked reaction to the events in Europe is precisely the wrong way to handle the situation, and if you're a Republican, you will make the wrong choice and be on the wrong side of history, no matter what the issue may be.
NOAH: Ted Cruz first of all, you're a sanctimonious jackass. Second of all, President Obama doesn't need to go to Belgium for them to know that he's an ally. It's not like all the European Presidents went to Belgium after the attacks, and they're within driving distance.
Noah puts Cruz soundly in his place, quickly demolishing his flippant attitude towards the President of the United States. If he's running for the office of the U.S. Presidency, shouldn't he afford the office the proper respect?
NOAH: Seriously why are you exploiting a terror attack in Brussels to tell a U.S. President how long he can visit Cuba? And you know what, Obama, to his credit, had a good response to this.
PRESIDENT OBAMA: (speaking in Cuba) Groups like ISIL can't destroy us, they can't defeat us. Their primary power, in addition to killing innocent lives, is to strike fear in our societies, to disrupt our societies. It is very important for us to not respond with fear.
NOAH: President Obama's right. Yeah. Terrorists win when we allow them to disrupt our way of life.
Terrorism brings out the worst in people, and it unearths those who who we thought had disappeared into irrelevancy. This week's attacks were the perfect vehicle to resurrect the dying career of Piers Morgan. The once replacement for CNN's successful Larry King Show, has resurfaced from obscurity. His new show, Good Morning Britain serendipitously featured an interview with Donald Trump following the Brussels attacks. Morgan seems to be carving himself a niche by aligning himself with the man and his radically idiotic policies on immigration and Islam.
He penned a piece in the tabloid rag, The Daily Mail, where he berated the president for acting like a respectable statesman.
Yet just as the world is crying out for strong decisive leadership, there is none.
America has a demob happy President Obama eeking out his last few months in office. A man whose infamous ‘leading from behind’ philosophy to foreign policy has been partly responsible for the war in Syria raging uncontrollably for five years – allowing fundamentalism to ferment.
Obama has zero interest in doing anything tangible to really deal with ISIS. This is now parked in the tray marked ‘next president’s problem.’
Morgan is also writing for FOX Nation, revealing his descent into complete conservative depravity.
Obama, in his capacity as President of the United States, is supposed to be ‘leader of the free world’ and therefore, de facto, leader of NATO.
That alone should have demanded he immediately abandon his jolly in Cuba, where he is cosying up to a dictatorship, and return to Washington to lead the global response with a powerful statement from the Oval Office.
Sorry Piers, but technology has advanced sufficiently, so much so that the President can conduct his affairs from anywhere on the planet, and do so rather effectively.
Morgan sings the praises of Trump to help himself to some of Donald's exorbitant free press. Morgan is a parasitic charlatan, a talentless has-been who will once again, fade away into obscurity when this GOP clown show has been put to rest. In the meantime, we will continue to rely on liberal comedians to maintain our sanity in these crazy times.
