"The cultural touchstone....is the 2006 movie Idiocracy, still consistently hashtagged and name-dropped any time someone feels like we're falling headlong into some collective mindless destruction."

"But here's the thing: we've now had the benefit of almost ten years of hindsight since that movie came out. And even though it takes place five hundred years in the future, I feel completely confident in saying that knowing we know now, we would be f**king lucky to have the future of Idiocracy."

This video claims that a nation of idiots who nevertheless, in the end, choose leaders based on merit and intelligence (and seem ironically free of racism and sexism) is better than the current voters who choose based on prejudice and tribalism. He makes a pretty good argument. Check it out and let us know what you think in comments.
