First it was the KKK endorsing Trump, now he himself is retweeting fascist leaders with no regret. Fantastic! On Meet the Press today, Donald Trump was asked about his decision to tweet out a quote by famous fascist party leader, Benito Mussolini.
Todd: "You retweeted a quote: "it is better to live one day as a lion than 100 years as a sheep"
Trump: "It is a very good quote. It is s a very interesting quote. I saw it, I know who said it but what difference does it make who said it? it's a very interesting quote."
Todd: "Do you want to be associated with a fascist?
Trump: "No I want to be associated with interesting quotes...It got your attention, didn't it?"
This should terrify people. Fascism is an way of organizing a country in which a government is ruled by a dictator who controls the lives of the people. In that country, the people are not allowed to disagree with the government in any way or they will suffer extreme consequences. This is not the way our forefathers intended for our country to be led. The thought of a demagogue, a fanatic, a sociopath, getting the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue should shake true Americans to the core.
You know who was another Fascist leader? Adolf Hitler. It is well known that Trump slept with a copy of My New Order, a collection of Hitler's speeches, on his nightstand. Nothing like a little hate speech to help you drift off into a good night's sleep, right?
Seems to fit Trump. Scary that his supporters don't see how real of a threat he poses to all Americans, not just the groups he ridicules and threatens to expel in large numbers.
America is not a fascist country. We must ensure that this man doesn't win the election or we run the risk of sinking into an abyss of dictatorship never before seen on American soil.
