Sarah Palin, of the now infamous, rambling Trump endorsement speech which gave us such gems as "Right wingin’, bitter clingin’, proud clingers of our guns, our god, and our religions, and our Constitution." and “Mr. Trump, you’re right, look back there in the press box. Heads are spinning, media heads are spinning. This is going to be so much fun.”
Well, this morning it's Palin's head spinning after a remarkably uncomfortable interview on the Today Show. Apparently, Palin didn't get the memo that live interviews involve asking questions on a variety of hot issues. She thought this would be a puff piece on Trump and the caucuses. Not so.
Mediaite quoted Savannah Guthrie as asking Palin the following question
"I want to ask you about something you mentioned on the campaign trail, which is the arrest of your son Track. You talked about it, and then you mentioned PTSD and you said that President Obama may be to blame for some of the PTSD that’s out there.”
Palin, following in the footsteps of all GOP candidates, doubled down and denied making those statements.
(roll the tape)
Palin was not having any of it and snapped at Guthrie, “That was a promise. As things go in the world of media, you don’t always keep your promises, evidently.”
Matt Lauer, completely ignoring Palin's pathetic whining, continued to push and asked, "Do you regret the comment on that day of the endorsement?”
And....Palin responded
“What did I say that is offensive? I don’t regret any comment that I made because I didn’t lay PTSD at the foot of the president… If you have a specific quote, it allows the media to be credible if you guys would tell me exactly what you’re talking about.”
Here is the issue. Palin tied her son's extremely violent domestic violence assault (on the very same day Palin was to endorse Trump, ironically enough) to PTSD from his time in the military. Problem is, it has been discovered that he never actually saw any actual combat. So what caused his PTSD? The idea of going into combat? What an insult to the actual brave men and women that have served in the military.
The interview wrapped up with Palin whining some more about how the media never "keeps its promises" blah blah blah, Trump, some more whining, end scene.
Sarah Palin, never change.
