Rush Limbaugh was busy doing some damage control on his show today about who exactly is responsible for Donald Trump's rise on the national political stage, while reassuring his listeners that he, Fox News, and the hardliners on the right hadn't had a thing to do with it.
"It's Obama's radicalism that actually begins the process which creates a scenario where somebody like Donald Trump charges in to fill an absolutely, impossibly huge vacuum," he said.
Let's just decode that phrase "Obama's radicalism," shall we? It's easy enough. It's Obama's race that's the issue there, so I suppose on that level Rush might have a point. But it's got nothing to do with policy positions.
"Now, we knew who Obama was -- well, I did -- from even before he was inaugurated," Limbaugh continued.
Why yes we did. President Barack Obama was a center-left Democrat who also happens to be black. And what was it Rush Limbaugh did with the knowledge of "who he is," exactly?
Four days before Barack Obama was inaugurated, Rush Limbaugh decreed that he must fail.
Those Rush sought to reassure today were not the rank-and-file angry white folks. No, Donald Trump has some bigger enemies than that, and those enemies happen to be friends. According to Jane Mayer, the Koch brothers and their cabal really loathe Donald Trump, and Rush Limbaugh is still on the air today because of them and the money they poured into Premiere Networks via organizations like FreedomWorks to get the message out about the Black Guy In The White House.
By the way, Glenn Beck has the same problem. He was paid the megabucks to read prepared scripts written by Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks, just as the Kochheads demanded.
But it's totally not his fault. Just listen to him say so!
"Now, I have nothing to do with this. Nobody on talk radio does. Nobody at Fox News does."
Please tell us another BS story, Rush! Donald Trump is definitely where he is because of Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and others who stoked the fires of white supremacy for the past seven years. They bought it, they own it, and they're going to have to live with it now.
