Since Donald Trump began to attack Hillary Clinton by rehashing Bill Clinton's past, the media has been generally receptive to the idea since many of the beltway elites made their bones off of the Clinton presidency and all the crazy conspiracies that followed.

Senator Rand Paul actually started the attacks on Bill Clinton's affair with Monica back in 2014, in his attempts to smear Hillary. Paul proclaimed that Bill didn't suffer enough because of the affair, so he was the first to attempt to do what Trump is doing now. (By the way, conservatives count on beltway idiots like Ruth Marcus to give them cover on anything that has to do with Bill Clinton.)

The silliness has continued as Joe Scarborough tried to equate Bill Cosby's alleged drugging and raping of women to the idea that an adult woman in her 20's, is not capable of being a consenting adult when it comes to sexual relations with an older man. Here he is asking Harold Ford, Jr, on his show Monday morning, if in today's world, BIll didn't actually rape Monica Lewinsky.

SCARBOROUGH: If you're a 52-year-old president of the United States, Harold, and you’re having an affair with a 22-year-old intern, is that defined as consensual in 2016?

Scarborough knows quite well that this is a ridiculous claim to make, since consensual sex- legally speaking with regards to age- is defined by very specific laws dealing with age in each state. That's where statutory rape comes into play and a woman in her 20's is an adult in everybody's eyes, including the law except Scarborough.

Mark Halperin played the typical right wing beltway fool in the segment which led up to Scarborough's rewriting of what the meaning of "consensual," means.

SCARBOROUGH: How's that?

HALPERIN: So, I think-- well, he acknowledged he had a relationship with Gennifer Flowers, he paid Paula Jones off in a settlement and has acknowledged much of what Monica says happened. So those are three prominent examples.

HAROLD FORD JR.: Those are consensual, I’m just only saying. I'm not defending it but you were talking about, I think he was talking about, Joe, Mrs. Clinton.

SCARBOROUGH: If you're a 52-year-old president of the United States, Harold, and you’re having an affair with a 22-year-old intern, is that defined as consensual in 2016?

FORD: I'm not defending, but what she was talking about sexual assault cases. At least that’s what I read, how I interpreted where she was. I'm not defending what this-- what the president did.

SCARBOROUGH: I’m just asking man. You need to calm down.

FORD: I'm making it clear she was talking about sexual assault cases.

SCARBOROUGH: Juanita Broderick, Kathleen Willey.

UPDATE 1: This segment on Morning Joe was then turned into a ridiculous Washington Post article that actually goes where it never should have gone. What’s the real difference between Bill Clinton and Bill Cosby? The media are starting to ask. Callum Borchers repeats Scarborough's claim and turns it into a typical, "some people say," routine to equate Bill Clinton to Bill Cosby.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough doesn’t think you can. “I am fascinated to hear why comparing Bill Clinton to Bill Cosby is wrong,” the “Morning Joe” host said on Monday’s program.

Callum, Scarborough has helped set an agenda that he was attempting to pass on to the media, which you dutifully obliged. The whole plan is to smear the leading Democratic presidential nominee, national poll wise, so that it makes it easier for the GOP to win back the presidency. There is no basis in fact about the relationship of both men.
