There was a question this morning as to whether Mayor Karen Weaver would show up for this presser. Joy Ann Reid had phoned in to MSNBC to say she'd talked with the mayor this morning, and without written guarantees of funding to help Flint residents, she would not attend. But she did.
A deal must have been struck. The mayor is here. #FlintWaterCrisis pic.twitter.com/O8kUbP1wjn

And her message was brief and to the point.
The city of Flint has hired an independent water testing manager with donated funds, who will report directly to the mayor's office. That's a smack in the face to Snyder.
She called him "The Governor Snyder." Lord knows what she really wanted to call him. She insisted her citizens should not pay for water.
Snyder has set aside $3M to address this issue. I'll bet that's in writing.
Aside: One snarky friend wondered to me why Snyder wasn't charging Flint residents for the lead they were "using." I told him they are. It's mixed in their water for no "extra" charge. It really is an atrocity that the state is charging for lead poisoned water.
Finally, Mayor Weaver said "I appreciate the federal government stepping up, but this does not replace the state stepping up, and giving the funds for our residents to fix this issue."
