Conservative actor Kevin Sorbo argued that New Yorkers were "looking to be offended" by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and that "anybody" would have responded the same way to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
During a Republican presidential debate last week, Cruz had slammed GOP hopeful Donald Trump's "New York values."
"Everybody understands that the values in New York City are socially liberal and pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage,” Cruz quipped at the time. “And focus on money and the media.”
After New Yorkers came together to demand an apology from Cruz, Sorbo explained to Newsmax host Steve Malzberg that people were "looking to be offended by something."
"You could say my favorite color is blue. 'Oh, I hate blue, I hate you Sorbo because you like blue,'" Sorbo remarked. "People are just looking to be offended in today's world."
Malzberg argued that Washington, D.C was also a target on 9/11 "and we insult Washington."
"You know, I think anybody who suffered what New York City had to suffer on 9/11 would have come together," Sorbo agreed. "And thank God they did. I'm not surprised that New Yorkers came together at that time."
"But let's face it, every city has its own personal vibe, every city thinks they are better than the other city. New York thinks they're the center of the world. And in a way, they kind of are."
