Trump spokesperson and all around nasty piece of work Katrina Pierson defended the indefensible on CNN this Tuesday: Trump Spox Battles S.E. Cupp on Muslim Ban Proposal: ‘So What? They’re Muslim!’:
Katrina Pierson, a spokeswoman for Donald Trump‘s campaign, battled conservative commentator S.E. Cupp Tuesday over the presidential candidate’s recent proposal to ban Muslims from entering the United States, insisting the plan is “really nothing new.” [...]
Pierson told Jake Tapper the U.S .already has “laws on books giving Congress the authority to ban immigration from nations that hostile towards America,” adding “this is really nothing new.” “It’s not ‘nothing new,'” a visibly shocked Cupp said. “There really is something new to the idea of banning an entire religious group from entering the country.”
Pierson argued that the United States has never in its history “allowed insurgents to come across this border.”
“No one’s talking about allowing insurgents,” Cupp countered. “You’re talking about not allowing regular Muslims.”
“Yes, from Arab nations,” Pierson replied. “You know what? So what? They’re Muslim!”
“So what?! That’s not the nation we live in, Katrina,” Cupp said.
Sorry S.E., but that's exactly the "nation we live in" and you and your buddies in the Republican party have been playing off of these same fears and prejudices for decades now. Trump is awful, but when you look at the policies he's pushing, there's not a whole lot of difference between him and the rest of the Republican party and the rest of the GOP clown car running for president right now.
