If anyone was wondering how the Trump campaign and his enablers in the media would respond to Hillary Clinton hitting back at them for Trump's sexist remarks about her using the bathroom during the last Democratic presidential debate, and his comments about her being "schlonged" by President Obama during the 2008 presidential election, we've got our answer.
Follow Trump's lead in "warning" that Clinton had better "be careful" when it comes to using the "war on women' against him, and attack Bill Clinton for his infidelity that has already been settled in the court of public opinion years ago.
That was what we heard this Christmas Eve's on Fox's Outnumbered by the likes of Andrea Tantoros and her buddies on the panel, Harris Faulkner, Joanne Nosuchinsky and Meghan McCain, with the notable exception of their "one lucky guy," Fox regular Father Jonathan Morris, who threw a bit of cold water on the notion that Trump can keep this up and alienate one group after another after another that he needs to win a general election, and still manage to somehow be elected president.
If anyone was wondering where the Fox yappers in the clip above got their talking points, it would seem to be straight out of the Trump campaign and his spokesperson, the obnoxious, flame throwing bigot, Katrina Pierson.
Here she is during a segment that ran this Monday on Don Lemon's show on CNN, giving the exact same warning to the Clinton campaign and going after Bill Clinton.
Hillary supporter David Brock did a very good job of calling out Pierson during the segment, but he may as well have been arguing with a brick wall when it comes to trying to get her to move one inch off of any of her lies, or to wipe that smug smile off of her face.
I was happy to see him call out the Trump campaign for what they are, which is nothing more than a bullying carnival barker who is starved for attention and who has no regard whatsoever for the damage he does to both the Republican party and our country as a whole, although the fact that Trump is potentially causing the Republican party to implode doesn't exactly break my heart:
BROCK: Look, let's just start by saying, you know, let's not talk about Hillary Clinton for a minute. What are the Republican say about Donald Trump? Unhinged proto-fascist. The "Wall Street Journal" editorial page today says, he has a pathology and narcissistic personality. That's why he admires Putin who is also a narcissistic strong men. So, I think the question is, what kind of a man -- let's forget the pardonship -- what kind of man insults, threatens, and degrades women not just Hillary, Megyn Kelly, Carly Fiorina. I'll tell you what kind of a man that is? That is somebody who is frightened, who is insecure and is a woos who has to act like a bully to make him feel like he's a big man. And I'll tell you what we're not going to be bullied in this campaign.
BOLDUAN: Katrina?
PIERSON: Well, let's distinguish between the people he's talking about, the quote-unquote, "Republican establishment" who happens to be losing handedly right now. And what's interesting about this, this notion of being bullied is, I mean, I can think of quite a few women that have been bullied by Hillary Clinton to hide her husband's misogynist sexist secret. So we can actually go there but the thing about Hillary is, she does need to be very careful. Because in the new CNN poll, it shows that not only Donald Trump, but Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are statistically tied with women. This is a campaign that was not going to run on the issues. Hillary was going to try to run this way on being a woman and it's failing.
BOLDUAN: David, I want to tell you, I know you lost audio for just a second there, David. But again and again, this is the warning, the be careful that's coming from Donald Trump, we're hearing it from Katrina. They are going to take on Bill Clinton.
BROCK: Right. Let them take on Bill Clinton. Look, this is not a democratic problem. It's a Republican problem. You have a Republican, front-runner, it is sad and pathetic, who not only insults women, is a racist who talks about Mexican immigrants as rapists, who is stoking Islamophobia which is helping the terrorists who want to kill us. This is a really dangerous situation and it's a terrible problem for the Republican Party. Because Donald Trump, at the end of the day, is an opportunist, he doesn't care about the Republican Party. To him, it's just a casino.
PIERSON: Actually, a Liberal problem, Erin. Because what you have on Hillary Clinton's side are a bunch of people including women, liberal women who want to run around talking about the war on women, they want to burn their bras, they complain about equal pay and being treated as men, and the second thing they get criticized for anything, they start acting like nine-year-old little girls. So, let's be serious.
BROCK: It's terrible to advocate for equal pay, isn't it?
BOLDUAN: Here's the one thing guys --
PIERSON: It's about policy instead of going around trying to call somebody, sexist, racism, misogynist.
BROCK: We're not calling. It's what it is.
BOLDUAN: I actually want to ask you something.
BROCK: Don't tell me it's politically correct. It's just decent not to walk around saying racist and sexists things.
BOLDUAN: David, you're doing a very good job speaking for Hillary Clinton. But let me ask you about this --
BROCK: Sure.
BOLDUAN: In your response coming from Hillary Clinton --
BROCK: Yes.
BOLDUAN: First, you had the campaign was silent. Then you have the Clinton campaign official who sent out a tweet saying, we're not going to respond. Fast forward no time at all, almost the same day. Hillary Clinton did respond in that very emotional way. What is the change? What is the decision behind that strategy if she's not afraid to take Bill -- Bill Clinton, pardon me -- if she's not afraid to take Donald Trump on, what was behind that strategy towards the response?
BROCK: Honestly, I don't know. But I'll just say that the things that were said the other night, I was watching live. They were so shocking that the first thing you would say is, I'm not going to dignify it. But then, look, he's the Republican front-runner. Your own poll shows that today. He's surging on the basis of a radicalized Republican base and he is giving voice to their bigotry. And so someone needs to call that out. And I'm glad Hillary Clinton is doing it and we're going to continue to do it because certainly the Republicans, who are his opponents, are too weak to really do the job.
As Brock also noted during that interview, even right wing media outlets are criticizing Trump for his misogynistic attacks on Hillary Clinton, and apparently some of the talking heads over at Fox agree with him.
Fox Panelists: If Trump Goes After Bill Clinton to Attack Hillary, It Will Backfire:
For days now, Donald Trump has been hinting attacks on Hillary Clinton over her husband’s past, but two of the panelists on Fox’s Special Report tonight said it’s a bad idea.
After Trump attacked Clinton for using the bathroom during the debate and saying she got “schlonged,” Clinton fired back against his bigotry, sexism, bluster, etc.
Trump cryptically tweeted out things like “BE CAREFUL!”, but one campaign official made it clear that he’s talking about Bill Clinton‘s past. But on Fox tonight, The Washington Examiner‘s David Drucker said, “If he starts a fight over Bill Clinton with Hillary, that would make Hillary Clinton very happy.”
Why? Because it would keep her and Trump in the news, blocking out any Republican who has an actual chance of beating her in the general election.
Charles Krauthammer agreed, saying that while Trump would probably be the only candidate who would dare go that far with the former president, it’s “too toxic” and “probably will backfire” and “generate sympathy” for Clinton.
It seems Roger Ailes and company still have their finger in the air when it comes to Trump.
