Sen. Rand Paul was asked by Fox News' Gretchen Carlson if his opposition to Marco Rubio's no fly zone pitch in Syria is ill informed since Russia seems to be helping Assad and not US interests in the region.
Paul: ...and probably would possibly get us involved in WWIII because currently Iraq and Syria have invited Russia into their air space. So if someone like Senator Rubio wants to have a no fly zone, he would have to then agree to shoot down Russian planes that are flying in that air space already. It's a really, really naive and foolish notion and we should be very wary of who we have as our commander and chief because we don't want somebody who makes the mistake that Ronald Reagan and many other great leaders avoided and that is getting into an unnecessary war with Russia.
Rand Paul is circling the drain at the bottom of the GOP presidential list and he's going on the offensive against Rubio, even if he feels his poll numbers are misrepresented. However, I do agree with him that Rubio is both naive and foolish and we don't need no more stinking wars.
Unfortunately for Sen. Paul, the GOP base seems to be itching for another world conflict and they love to hate on Russia.
