Mayor de Blasio and his wife, Chirlane McCray joined the yakkers at Morning Joe for a discussion on crime and violence in New York City. The reality, the number of murders in 2014 went down, despite ending the practice of Stop and Frisk.
Being the savant that he thinks he is, Joe Scarborough claims that his perception of the safety of the city of New York is the only thing that matters. To solidify his claims that safety is on the decline, he posts a Quinnipiac poll of perception of safety.
Perception be damned, the numbers don't lie.
This chart is from The Brennan Center For Justice:
Then Joe brings on Chris Christie to add his irreverent two cents.
'It's the liberal policies in this city that has led to the lawlessness encouraged by the President of the United States.'
Because he's the Governor of the state adjacent to New York City, apparently Christie is the expert on NYC violence, no mention of Newark by the MoJo crew, as that would be fair and balanced.
He discusses the GOP race, Hillary and his ignominious perception of crime in NYC.
It was nice of Harold Ford Jr. to praise Christie's critique of NYC crime. Then Christie said he'd bring back Stop and Frisk, because that doesn't work at all. Then Christie mansplains to Mika what leadership is. Not one minute later, Scarborough calls Mayor de Blasio, Mika's 'boyfriend.' That minimizes the significance of her opinion, no matter what it is.
Finally, Christie bashes the president's Labor Day speech and proclaims that the stimulus was a failure and unions are bad. Unions, according to the NJ Governor, only care about protecting the worst of these unions and not about teaching kids. Harold Ford Jr. said nothing. No one said a thing to correct bullies Scarborough and Christie.
It's amazing MSNBC is considered a news station anymore. In case you had any hopes for the network, they have some awful changes coming down the pike, so you can put any questions of legitimacy to rest.
