A liberal guest shouted down former George W. Bush spokesperson Mercedes Schlapp on Sunday after she tried to claim that Jeb Bush would not have trouble defending the Iraq war because Democrats voted for it knowing the intelligence was faulty.
During a discussion on Fox & Friends, Accountability Project Executive Director Nomiki Konst said that Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush was trying to "reinvent history" of the Iraq war.
"He seems to ignore the fact that we got into Iraq because of his brother," Konst explained.
Schlapp, however, argued that the current problems in Iraq were President Barack Obama's fault because he had not negotiated a deal to leave U.S. troops in the country after George W. Bush left office.
"Tell that to the families whose sons and daughters have died in the war!" Konst interrupted. "You tell that to their families. Do you think that they want to hear that, that they wanted to stay in an endless war?"
"Why did you go to Iraq?" Konst continued. "Tell the American people that. As a member of the former George W. Bush administration, why did you go to Iraq?"
"As we all know, it was a bipartisan effort that basically said we were going to go into this war, we know that there was faulty intelligence that was associated with it," Schlapp replied. "Secretary Clinton, when she was senator, actually voted for the Iraq war."
"The spin here is incredible!" Konst gasped. "Are you listening to yourself? This spin is insane."
"Stop screaming," Schlapp advised.
"I'm sorry but it's very personal to me, when my friends had to go to the Iraqi war and people died!" Konst shouted back. "And that faulty intelligence was created by the Bush administration."
"It's very personal for all of us," Schlapp agreed.
