Harris County, Texas is included in the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land Metropolitan Statistical Area. Last night, deputies responded to a call at around 9 pm. The local NBC affiliate explains:
Five children and three adults were found dead in a Texas home on Saturday night after a police stand-off, authorities said.
A 49-year-old male suspect surrendered to police after earlier firing a gun when officers entered the house in suburban Houston, police said.
It was not yet known whether the suspect is related to the victims, or how they died, according to Deputy Thomas Gilliland. He said police were still searching for a motive.
Gilliland said officers were called to the house in Harris County just after 9 p.m., and upon arrival discovered that the man inside had an outstanding warrant for the aggravated assault of a family member.
He said the High Risk Operations Unit was then called in to run the arrest, but officers decided to move in after seeing the body of a child through a window.
It appears the victims were all shot, with a gun. Not punched, stabbed, battered or choked; but shot with a gun. Guns are not the problem though. I guess we have to forget that myth because the NRA will never let us do anything constructive to cure our gun proliferation problem. In this particular Texas County, carrying a concealed hand gun was made easier by a law from early 2014. I'm sure that has nothing to do with this.
