Fox's new race-baiter in chief, Megyn Kelly and former Bush spox turned Fox host Dana Perino accused Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders of trying to politicize Sandra Bland's death on Kelly's show this Wednesday. Fox is already doing their best to exonerate the police department, and Kelly started things off by reporting on some documents leaked to Fox where they try to blame her death on depression over a miscarriage she had a year prior to her arrest: Woman who died in Texas jail cell mentioned previous suicide attempt:
Waller County Sheriff Glenn Smith said Wednesday that two jailers interviewed Sandra Bland after her arrest. He said the 28-year-old black woman from Illinois told the second interviewer that she was not depressed but was upset about her arrest, which occurred following a confrontation with a white officer who stopped her for a minor traffic violation.
The sheriff said both jailers who spoke with Bland insisted that she appeared fine when being booked on a charge of assaulting a public servant.
The attorney representing Bland's family, Cannon Lambert, said relatives had no evidence that she ever attempted suicide or had been treated for depression.
Documents filled out for Bland indicate she had previously attempted suicide after losing a baby.
But the booking papers released Wednesday also indicate Bland did not have suicidal thoughts at the time of her arrest and that neither the arresting officer nor anyone else at the jail believed she was at risk.
That was all the excuse Kelly needed to start piling on Clinton and Sanders for daring to say anything about the incident.
From Fox's blog: Megyn Kelly: Hillary Clinton Blatantly Pandering With Comments on Sandra Bland :
Just hours before new documents shed light on the death of Sandra Bland, an African American woman who died in a Texas jail, Hillary Clinton weighed in on the case.
"I hope and expect that there will be a full investigation into this situation," Clinton said today. "It is also a tragic reminder of the ongoing systemic issues of race and justice in America that we must address with urgency. And we have to do more than talk - we have to take action."
Megyn Kelly said that this is a blatant attempt by the presidential candidate to insert herself in a news story and pander to her audience.
Dana Perino agreed it's obviously politically motivated, which she said doesn't comfort Bland's family at all.
"National leaders get in trouble when they jump the gun on local issues," Perino said, pointing to President Obama.
Fox "news" of course has no problem politicizing any and every death that suits them as long as it fits their agenda. What's really amazing is that just after the district attorney leaked this information to Fox, they were texting the Bland family attorney, requesting another autopsy because the first one they did was supposedly botched.
Here's the clip from Lawrence O'Donnell's show on MSNBC where the attorney was literally being texted by them while he was on the air.
