The Cavuto On Business panel discussed the current trend in homicide increases in some major cities. The premise of the discussion was of course, not the guns used in most of the homicides, but the increased scrutiny on the police causing the spike in homicides. There's no evidence that more careful policing of police abuses causes crime to spike, but there is plenty of evidence that demonstrates that more guns equals more death.
The certitude of the group, save Adam Lashinsky (the lone sane liberal), that these statistics are not only the fault of the liberal media's police scrutiny but that these statistics are irrefutable is not exactly the case.
It may be too soon to say whether this is a trend or an anomaly —indeed, several major cities have seen decreases in homicide rates, including Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Diego. While some experts say the numbers reflect a struggle on the part of law enforcement to fund the necessary programs to keep decreasing the homicide rate, others say the numbers may even out as the year progresses.
Charlie Gasparino recalls the crime-ridden 1970's in New York City, where the only refuge in the great blackout of 1977 was 'mob-run Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.'
Part of the reason why the crime is going up is because the media, many of the liberals in the media, the media is dominated by liberals and the popular culture of attacking.'
Cavuto interrupts, writing down and saying
'wait, wait, wait; media dominated by liberals.'
After some laughter from the panel at such clever wit, Gasparino adds,
'write this down too: the popular liberal media hate cops.'
Now that we've established that 'fact,' Charles Payne wants to discuss the income inequality in major metropolises that are run by 'liberal mayors.' It's the mayors who are causing all this disparity. And, let's not forget the welfare queen myth perpetrated by Saint Ronnie,
'they are also paying people not to work.'
Gerri Willis chimed in and claimed that all you had to do in days of Mayor Dinkins was open your NYC window and you could hear the gunshots. Of course, the guns have never been the problem. It's the liberal mayors.
The conservative insanity continued with Ben Stein who is just furious that the treatment of the cops by the media. Cavuto reminds him that crime is on the rise, and asks, 'is this just a passing phenomenon?' Stein bloviated, '
It's a terrible phenomenon, and it has entirely to do with the mainstream media that has taken on the cops, humiliated the cops, tried to make the cops into the bad guys.'
Cavuto graciously allows Lashinsky to have roughly eight uninterrupted seconds before Gasparino jumps in and explains that the media hasn't changed in the last twenty years, it's more liberal and more cop-bashing than ever. Funny thing, the media has been inundated with MORE right wing media, like Fox News, which is approaching its 20th anniversary of its inception.
Stein says that the media is on the warpath. Lashinsky feebly tries to deny this crazy group's idea that it's all the fault of the liberal media that people hate cops. It couldn't be the deplorable behavior that the cops have exhibited, now could it? This was simply another 'fair and balanced' segment inside the right wing bubble of crazy!
