The leader of the GOP 2016 clown car apparently can't tell the difference between women being abused while trying to make their way to the United States and those doing the abusing. Donald Trump has been facing some huge backlash ever since he made his remarks about Mexican immigrants supposedly being a bunch of rapists, even though, in Trump's words, some of them may be nice people as well.
That didn't stop him from doubling down on his stupidity during an interview with CNN's Don Lemon this Wednesday night. Here's what he told Lemon when he asked about his comments.
Donald Trump to Don Lemon: "Somebody's Doing the Raping":
Speaking to America’s other self-appointed rape expert named Don on Wednesday, Donald Trump doubled down on his assertion that immigrants from Mexico are mostly rapists, citing an irrelevant article before confidently declaring, “Somebody’s doing the raping.”
To support his racist, unfounded claim, Trump pointed to a 2014 Fusion article reporting that 80% of Central American migrants passing through Mexico are raped, adding, “All I’m doing is telling the truth!”
Even someone as perceptive as Don Lemon, however, could see that a story about women being raped in Mexico had little to do with the supposed rapist makeup of Mexican immigrants in the United States.
“That’s about women being raped,” Lemon told Trump, “it’s not about criminals coming across the border.”
“Somebody’s doing the raping, Don,” replied Trump. “The thing is women being raped, well, then who’s doing the raping?”
Trump seems to be a bit confused as to the difference between an abused immigrant just trying to make their way to America and the coyotes who smuggle them in here, and the people helping them make their way through Mexico.
Heaven forbid Don Lemon might have taken a few more minutes to make point that to him so it was crystal clear after Trump basically ignored him the first time he tried.
