On Wednesday, May 6, Dorian Johnson was arrested. Why this time? Here's the story:
Police released details of an incident involving three men taken into custody after officers were called to the 5700 block of Acme Avenue at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday by someone “reporting a large group of subjects who were possibly armed with firearms.”
The police report did not name Johnson, but a police source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the incident involved Johnson and two of his brothers. Johnson allegedly had a cough medication mixed with what police believe to be an illegal narcotic on him.
All three were arrested. One of Johnson’s brothers was found to be wanted in Bridgeton on warrants for armed robbery and armed criminal action, the police source said.
Could this be the reason the cops took interest in the gathering?
I wonder if it is a coincidence? He's asking for roughly $100,000, that would definitely ruffle a few feathers. But the cops found drugs, right? It's not as if the cops have ever planted narcotics on a suspect, or have they? It seems awfully fishy that a group of black men convening publicly would warrant such attention in a city with a mostly African-American demographic.
It's very possible that the police saw this as a fine opportunity to make Dorian pay for the suit. How dare he accuse the Ferguson Police of using excessive force, that's preposterous!
Dorian Johnson contends in his lawsuit filed last week that Officer Darren Wilson initiated the confrontation that ended in Brown's Aug. 9 death. Johnson says Wilson used excessive force and "acted with deliberate indifference or reckless disregard" for Johnson's rights.
The Ferguson Police and Chief Jackson don't want any more negative attention. By portraying Mr. Johnson as a criminal, they're trying make their behavior seem justified.
Honestly, is there really any doubt the police are just conducting business as usual? No question, stopping the cops from arresting people for being black in public will take a long time, especially in a state which entered the Union as a slave state.
