Ben Carson may think he knows what a psychopath looks like, but apparently he hasn't looked in a mirror lately.

Republican White House candidate Ben Carson on Friday stood by his remark that President Obama is a “psychopath,” saying the president displays the associated personality traits.

“I said he reminds you of a psychopath, because they tend to be extremely smooth, charming people who can tell a lie to your face,” Carson told host John Harwood on CNBC’s “Speakeasy.”

“It looks like sincerity, even though they know it’s a lie,” he said.

Just before he said this, he explained his idea to John Harwood for killing Medicare, Medicaid and the ACA, as well as his views on so-called welfare queens.

He proposes, for example, to replace more than just Obamacare with his plan for health savings accounts. He also wants his plan to replace all health insurance except for catastrophic coverage. He even wants it to replace Medicare—the extraordinarily popular health program for the elderly.

"When people are able to see how much more freedom they will have, and how much more flexibility they will have, and how much more choice they would have," he explained in our interview, "I think it's going to be a no-brainer."

In order to understand just how sick that is, consider what he says about people on welfare.

"In several states you can get as much or more on government assistance as you can by working a minimum wage job," he explained. "I don't necessarily blame people for saying, 'Look, I can stay home and make this money, or I can go and work this little chicken job that doesn't have many benefits.

"Recognize that if you go and take that chicken job, you gain skills, relationships, the possibility of moving up the ladder. So a year or two or five down the road, you're no longer in that position. This is what people have forgotten."

Do I really have to point out that the 'chicken job' he's referring to is one where no one could possibly put one single dime in a Health Savings Account? And it's not like they have employer-sponsored health insurance they wouldn't be paying for, either.

He puts it in a nice bedside tone, but the plain meaning is "Die and die quickly." If that isn't the message of a psychopath, I'm not sure what is.
