Oh thank dog for that! How could schools have a "Let's Pretend We're Muslim" day while not having one for Christianity or Judaism? This is simply a quandary Toddy can't decrypt on his own. It's time to consult with the dark money lords of the Christian States of America.
The one who alerted Starnes of this outrageous malevolence in our public schools is none other than the Koch-funded E.A.G., and its mouthpiece, Kyle Olson. What is the Education Action Group?
AG incorporator Eric Doster and Vice President Kyle Olson have ties to anti-public education groups including the Mackinac Center for Public Policy and the Great Lakes Education Project Political Action Committee. These groups have devoted years of effort and extensive financial resources supporting issues and candidates who favor private school vouchers, privatization of public school employees, and the end to unions representing working people.
It's a Scott Walker-esque dark money group of people who want to destroy public education. They will use faux religious persecution or any other weapon they can concoct to do the job.
None of EAG’s employees have any teaching experience except for writer Ben Velderman, who failed to survive his probationary period, teaching only 2 years in Zeeland, Michigan. Nevertheless, they present themselves as education experts, managing to recommend any solution to perceived problems as long as it includes blaming unions. EAG regularly hires Dick Morris as an “expert” on education issues.
If you were wondering why the G.O.P. is battling Common Core, it's not the same reason that you may think. The rigorous testing is a terrible indicator of learning, that's the more progressive argument. The Republicans oppose it for entirely different reasons, as stated by Olson's EAG:
EAG opposes the Common Core State Standards Initiative for requiring teachers to present climate science and evolution accurately. In a blog decrying advocates of stronger science standards in schools, EAG urges against “teaching anthropogenic climate change and Darwinian evolution as settled science.”
The oil companies and religious fringe groups are against any fact-based teaching that conflicts with their modus operandi. Who better to decide what our children are learning than the earth's rapists (oil and gas industry) and/or insane snake oil salesman, a.k.a., Christian Fundamentalists?
Starnes sees himself as a champion for marginalized Christians, which are about as common in this country as a $3 bill. Here's an excerpt from Kyle Olson's fringe publication, EAG News. His article is about disparaging the Union City Wisconsin district's controversial assignment.
"A parent of the student who received the assignment tells EAGnews, “I feel that the purpose of the assignment is to show prejudices towards Muslims in America or to invent them or exaggerate them (emphasis mine).”

The EAG and its Fox "news" enabler, Todd Starnes are just a front for a group that is founded by the exact same dark money groups that surround Governor Scott Walker (R-Wi). These are the anti-union, anti-student, anti-equality punks who defund public schools in favor of stealing that money for their billionaire buddies. When "Christianity is marginalized" that is code for, we want more Koch.
