An Illinois man is facing murder charges after police said that he beat his girlfriend's 18-month-old son to death because the boy urinated on him.

An Illinois man is facing murder charges after police said that he beat his girlfriend's 18-month-old son to death because the boy urinated on him.

Cicero town spokesperson Ray Hanania told reporters on Sunday that 23-year-old Martin Alvarado Jr. had been charged with first-degree murder for the death of 1-year-old Edwin O’Reilly. Hanania said that Alvarado became angry when he was changing the child's diaper and the boy urinated on him, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Cook County medical examiner's office determined that O’Reilly died from blunt force trauma. His death was ruled a homicide.

Alvarado reportedly admitted to the murder in a videotaped confession over the weekend. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
