When a black man is pulled over for a moving violation and the episode ends with him just receiving a warning, this is newsworthy. Will Stack, a 22 year old South Carolinian and African American, was let off with just a warning when he made the
"improper use of the median." After handing over his license and registration and listening politely while the officer explained what he did wrong, Stack was given a warning and sent on his way.
So he makes a video, posts it on Facebook and it goes viral. In it, he claims that the majority of police officers are well-intentioned. It seems pretty obvious that there are bad apples in every group, so is it really necessary to tell us about the good cops when the statistics prove that this is a real problem?
Stack is almost insinuating that if you keep your hands clean and be submissive and respectful, the odds are that a police officer won't act unjustly. Kilmeade wanted to know if he ever experienced any racism. He said, that he "unfortunately has been a victim of racism", but not to the point where he's been threatened, hurt or worse. Does Brian Kilmeade really think a black man in the South can go through life with no racism? Yes, he does. But if you make a video praising officers for not beating the living shit out of someone or worse, you may make something of yourself.
People need to understand that not all officers are crooked," Stack says in the video. "Not all officers are racist, bad people. And not all people who get shot or tased or arrested by officers are innocent victims."
"Just because you're black doesn't mean you're a victim, just because you're white doesn't mean you're a racist, just because you're a cop doesn't mean you're a bad person," Stack added
.
"The world really needs to stop putting labels on people and things and see them as who they are - people doing jobs, doing things. Ignorance has no color. God doesn’t see color. Why should we?"
Apparently god was no where to be found when Michael Slager shot Walter Scott in the back, so it seems odd that this black man would be an apologist for other cops. Does he think that maybe this particular infraction was minimized by the notoriety and bad press the North Charleston P.D. experienced?
No one will be surprised when you turn out to be an extraordinary success, said Kilmeade to conclude the segment. It seems Stack is more inspired by (Uncle Ruckus) Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) than he was disgusted by the treatment received by Walter Scott. This whole thing seems like pandering to the 5-0 so you can stay off the wrong side of an angry, racist police officer. Sorry Mr. Stack, but we can't ignore the glaringly awful statistics when it comes to police brutality and young black males like yourself. It doesn't matter how many times you claim this problem doesn't exist. It clearly does.
