The Daily Show's Jon Stewart weighed in on the latest so-called "scandal" surrounding Hillary Clinton over her State Department email address and while not completely dismissing some of the concerns raised, didn't think this was going to have much impact on the voters in the 2016 presidential election.
“It seems like less of a scandal and more of like a nerd snap like, ‘She’s so old, she doesn’t have an official email account.”
“I think the concern there is that the aides are the ones that get to decide which emails are appropriate to be shared as opposed to an independent arbiter,” Stewart explained. “That is why Doritos doesn’t get to decide which ingredients consumers need to know about, or why you don’t get to tell the cops which pocket to search.”
But Stewart wasn’t buying the idea that Hillary’s email problem could have a negative effect on her presidential ambitions. “How?! What, do you think maybe her wrong email address-ghazi will be a big boost to her Democratic primary rival, TBD?” he asked. And since Republicans already view her and her husband as “treasonous, murdering grift-asauruses,” Stewart didn’t think it would hurt her in the general election either.
If anything, he said Clinton email trouble might help “sew up the senior vote — they can relate.”
