Allen was only in Soft Machine for a little while, but he did help start a very influential band (and another one right after that). It was only a little over a month ago that Allen told his fans that he was dying of cancer and would no longer be fighting it. He said that he didn't have much time, but, hopefully, he was able to make the most of it. The humor and complexity that he brought to his music will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Daevid.

Got any favorite moments from Gong, Soft Machine, or any other project's of Daevid's? Share them in the comments.
