Fox's Peter Johnson Jr. wants everyone to know we've got the "greatest justice system in the world." Just don't allow any of those terrorists to have access to it. While discussing Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton's little show he put on this week during the Armed Services Committee hearing on Guantanamo Bay, Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade and the unfortunately named Johnson did their best to try to scare the hell out of their audience about the possibility of the terrorists coming to New York City for trial.
After first showing a quote by ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi saying "I'll see you guys in New York" after he was released from a detention camp in 2009, Kilmeade shamelessly conflated that with putting terrorists on trial in the United States and then asked Johnson, "Is this is really the direction we're heading?"
JOHNSON: Al-Baghdadi promising to see us in New York and according to president Obama now and Mr. McKeon, they may get their wish. This is a form of dementia. This is a form of insanity we're hearing in Congress now.
Our foreign policy with regard to terrorists and al Qaeda and ISIS is based on a couple of things; shame, regret and guilt. We need to demonstrate to the world that we've done something wrong. We're going to make amends for it. We're not going to show orange jump suits. We're going to close Guantanamo Bay and then we're going to show the world how good the American justice system is. So when we walk past the World Trade Center today, when I walked past it today, I should feel shame, guilt, regret, not anger.
KILMEADE: The other guys, The Blind Sheikh, they did a circus, Moussaoui made it a circus when they did this and they were able to get the go-sign to others around the world.
JOHNSON: Let's see how the Congress reacted yesterday to this kind of nonsense about Gitmo and trials in New York for terrorists.
(Cut to clip of Cotton at the committee hearing saying the terrorists "can rot in Guantanamo Bay.")
JOHNSON: We have the greatest justice system in the world. We don't need to prove that to anyone. Enemy combatants and war criminals should be tried in that arena. When you burn people alive and dump debris on them...
KILMEADE: It's unbelievable. They don't deserve it. We're going to sit there. We're going to arrest these guys and we're going to dust them for prints, we're going to pick up evidence and we're going to bring him into trial. That's what he's doing.
