Jud Lounsbury of Uppity Wisconsin points out that Wisconsin's dumb senator, Ron Johnson, borrows a page from his Wisconsin's dumb Congressman Glenn Grothman in perpetuating the right wing fantasy of welfare queens who keep producing children out of wedlock in order to increase their government sponsored income. Johnson goes on to say that women are deterred from finding a man to support them because then they lose all that money.
Apparently, irony and shame are concepts that are lost on RoJo.
RoJo is living proof that one can marry someone who can support him, since he married the daughter of a plastics tycoon. Not only did he marry into wealth, but his father-in-law created a company for RoJo to run which was almost exclusively supported by the father-in-law's company.
Adding to the irony and shamelessness is the fact that RoJo had no qualms about taking government handouts time and time again in support of the company that his father-in-law created for him.
Of course, RoJo's assertions are that much crap, as Lounsbury points out:
It's also important to point out that in the current generation of children, more than half will spend at least part of their childhood in a single-parent household and although most of these single-parent households are headed by women, most single women with children don't receive government assistance that we typically think of as "welfare."
Although Johnson is trying to conjure up images of the 1950s aproned housewife facing some sort of bizarro binary decision of either finding "someone to support her" or going on the government dole, that's simply not world that we live in. Today, Senator, most of the ladyfolks-- regardless of whether they are married or not-- are in the workforce. Period. In fact (you’d better sit down!) most new college graduates today are women and there are even more lady lawyers and lady doctors coming down the pike than men!
Of all the statements that demonstrate that Ron Johnson doesn't live in the same world as the rest of us, this one really takes the cake. Of course, what would we expect from someone who has never had to worry about job security and making ends meet, as he coos from the protective cocoon that his wife's wealthy family has built for him?
I would be remiss if I didn't also mention that he used the company's profits to fund his 2010 campaign. Fortunately for RoJo, he found new sugar daddy-in-laws with lots of dark money to support him.
In other words, you womenfolk should stop depending on the government's largess and quit getting rich off those couple of hundreds of bucks each month. Do what RoJo did and find a rich family to marry into and leech off of.
RoJo's stunt only helps ensconce him as the senator most likely to be replaced in 2016, which can't happen soon enough.
