Martha MacCallum interviewed the one of the GOP's less-goofy Senators, Ohio's Rob Portman, who spewed the filthy, vile lies of his oil'igarch corporate masters. When you have a new class of crazy Senators like Joni Ernst and Ben Sasse, who are joining the Ted Cruz Dominionist caucus, Fox News, sometimes likes to balance out the crazy with a more mainstream Republican. Yet somehow, Portman touts the same lies about the oil industry as the far-right-crazy caucus.
The KXL Pipeline will not create 40,000 jobs and the end result is far more disastrous than these selfish, greedy bastards let on. Mercifully, this nightmare will likely be vetoed by President Obama and Portman is naturally displeased. His Koch overlords have commanded their bought and paid for Senators to fight as hard as they can to help them destroy the earth.
Portman is completely full of shit. The Keystone Pipeline is the most environmentally disastrous project, ever. With the destruction of the northern Alberta wilderness, the toxic storage of giant ponds filled with wastewater called tailings, and the dangerous route through America's heartland, the Keystone XL is truly game over for the planet.
The Port Arthur Texas area where the oil will ultimately end up is already a dirty, polluted mess. The area's children can't even play outside, as their eyes water and illness is on the rise. Of course, it's an area of low-income minorities, so these Senators don't give a damn about what happens to those Americans.
Bernie Sanders has been a champion of the American people, as he's proven time and time again on so many issues.
Just one year of fuel price increases as a result of KXL could cancel out some or all of the jobs created by KXL, based on the $3- $4 billion budget...Keystone XL won’t create jobs. Most of the oil is going to be shipped to Asia. The pipeline will raise the price of gas for many Americans, and the profits will go to the oil companies, not the American people.
This film tells the true story of this devastating project. It's positively terrifying that this would ever be considered by any responsible adult, but then again, we are speaking about Republicans and Blue Dog Dems. Watch and share. It's incredibly moving.
