Mike Huckabee got into hot water the other day when it was reported that he said in a radio interview that he experienced culture shock while working for Fox News in New York because woman used profanity just as much as men and that made them "trashy."
“In Iowa, you would not have people who would just throw the f-bomb and use gratuitous profanity in a professional setting,” Huckabee said. “In New York, not only do the men do it, but the women do it!”
He continued: “This would be considered totally inappropriate to say these things in front of a woman.” But “for a woman to say them in a professional setting,” Huckabee went on, “that’s just trashy!”
Politico ran with the story as well as many news outlets including C&L. Huckabee then later complained that he wasn't talking about the women of Fox News, but New York women in general.
Clarification: The headline on this story has been updated to reflect Huckabee’s assertion that he was referring in his original remarks to women in New York and not specifically to his former colleagues at Fox News.
He worked for Fox News the whole time he was in New York, so what other business meetings was he talking about where the women swore like drunken sailors?
Please, stop embarrassing yourself, Mike.
Wednesday night he joined Megyn Kelly, who soft-pedaled him for the entire interview even as he continued to deny he was actually being mean to the ladies of Fox News, but she ended the interview by calling out his misogyny in a big way:
Kelly: I do have some news for you before I let you go. We are not only swearing. We’re drinking, we’re smoking, we’re having premarital sex, we have birth control before we go to work, and sometimes boss around a bunch of men.
Huckabee: I just don't want to hear that. I don't want to hear that.
Kelly: That's the reality, Gov.
Oh, no! Women have premarital sex!!!!!!
