CORRECTION: This is a story that circulated in September, and was denied/debunked at the time:
The BackStoppers Inc. does not know who is selling T-shirts that read: “I support Officer Darren Wilson,” and will not accept money from the sales if it is offered, said the charity’s executive director, Ron Battelle.
Social media sites have been circulating rumors that profits from the T-shirts would benefit BackStoppers as well as a fundraising website for Wilson, whose shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson on Aug. 9 triggered protests and rioting.
Some complained that any such connection would be a conflict of interest for St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch as an investigation of Wilson’s use of force continues.
McCulloch is the president of the BackStoppers’ board of directors.

In addition to his duties as the county prosecutor, Robert McCulloch is also the president of The Backstoppers, Inc., an organization used to fundraise for the men and women in uniform in both Missouri and Illinois. And, in August, his organization was affiliated with a t-shirt drive featuring a picture of Missouri and the statement “I SUPPORT OFFICER D. WILSON” which was set up to raise money for the Darren Wilson Defense Fund as well as The Backstoppers.
Yeah, tell me that was just mere coincidence. I don't think so.
The t-shirts are a link which open up disturbing questions we must ask about the prosecutor’s ability to do his job impartially in the Darren Wilson grand jury investigation. As his organization appears to have been partially funded by these handful of shirts, it is a cause for concern. Are there other cases where some form of double-dealing has occurred?
A special prosecutor should have been appointed, if for no other reason than to avoid this kind of crap. Also? McCulloch ought to have a Bar complaint lodged for this.
