Coming from the guy who ought to know a thing or two about losing elections. Presidential elections don't matter and are never a mandate for Democrats, but record low turnout in the midterms and President Obama had better get the message that he lost.

Romney: Obama "poking an eye" of GOP over immigration:

As President Obama gets closer to taking executive action on immigration reform, Republicans say that he is ignoring the American people and provoking the GOP in the process.

"My advice to the Democrats at this point and to the president in particular is take a breath. The president said that he was not on the ballot in the election that was just held, but that his policies were. And the American people sent a very clear message to the president about his policies. They're not happy about them," said 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney in an interview with CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday.

Romney called the potential unilateral action "extra-constitutional," and a move that would be "poking an eye of the Republican leaders in Congress" and, ultimately, something that would hurt the people who would be affected by any executive action because it would deny them a permanent solution.

"The president has got to learn that he lost this last election round, the American people spoke loud and clear. Let those people who were elected come together with a piece of legislation on this and other topics, and then he has a chance to veto them if he doesn't like them. But the idea of violating the principles of our constitution, which is a balance of power, checks and balances, that is something which is wrong," Romney said.

If anyone ought to know something about poking someone in the eye, it's Republicans. Hey, sorry about that log I jammed into your eye! But don't you dare jab me with that stick! And never mind that both St. Ronnie and George H.W. Bush used executive orders on immigration as well:

Mitt Romney is accusing President Obama of violating the Constitution in order to cover up for the fact that Republicans are refusing to do their jobs. [...]

The question for Romney and other Republicans is was it also a violation of the Constitution when Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush used executive orders on immigration? Reagan and Bush 41 both acted without the approval of Congress to shield immigrants from deportation with executive orders. Routine actions like executive orders on immigration are only unconstitutional in Republican eyes when they are undertaken by President Obama. The real reason Republicans are upset about the president’s immigration executive orders is that they were planning on doing nothing with the immigration issue. Republicans are upset because Obama is doing something. Congressional Republicans believed that if they won a majority in the Senate, they could prevent Obama from doing anything. Read on...
