Joni Ernst is a full-blown Teabircher. It blows my mind that she's leading Bruce Braley in the polls right now in Iowa's Senate race. Ernst fully backs fetal personhood, and now we not only have her on video calling for nullification of the ACA, we also have her written affirmation on the same subject.
TPM:
State Sen. Joni Ernst, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Iowa, once said she would support legislation that would allow "local law enforcement to arrest federal officials attempting to implement" Obamacare.
Ernst voiced her support for that, as well as supporting legislation that would "nullify" Obamacare in a Iowa State Legislative Candidates survey for Ron Paul's libertarian-aligned Campaign for Liberty in 2012. It can be viewed here.
The question was: "Will you support legislation to nullify ObamaCare and authorize state and local law enforcement to arrest federal officials attempting to implement the unconstitutional health care scheme known as ObamaCare?" Ernst answered that question as "yes."
TPM has an image of the questionnaire with their article. It's starkly obvious she's aligned with the wingnuts and would rival Ted Cruz for crazypants awards on a weekly basis. She's running for Tom Harkin's seat. Come on, Iowa! You can do better than that.
Ernst is backpedaling on the nullification claims like crazy, but her alignment with Ron Paul and her sponsorship of Iowa's personhood amendment should be all Iowans need to know about where her true beliefs are. Her pathetic effort to run toward the center isn't serious enough to be given newsprint, much less votes.
