A rocket that was to be launched from Wallops Island, Va., Tuesday evening to resupply the International Space Station blew up about a second or two after launch, around 6:23 p.m.

TV coverage supplied by NASA showed a cloud of smoke and flame at the time of scheduled launch.

The cause was not immediately known.
