Yes, there is a case of Ebola in New York City. Dr. Craig Spencer recently returned from treating Ebola patients in West Africa, and has been self-monitoring for symptoms, which appeared today. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where they have been implementing best practices and protocols for Ebola.
It's a virus. It's sort of inevitable that it will come to this country eventually, and it's unworthy of the panic around it. But that didn't stop the right wingers from just going nuts on twitter.
First, we have the now-deleted tweet from a senior adviser to Senator Ted Cruz up at the top. Obsessive much? When he was ridiculed for such a stupid tweet, Muzin deleted it, claiming his poorly expressed sarcasm was too difficult for people to understand.
And then there's The Donald, who projectile-vomited a bunch of bile into the Twittersphere all at once:
This is the one that made me laugh loud enough for the neighbors to hear:
Then he just kept at it, reminding us all of what a vile human he is:
Before his temperature spiked up today, Dr. Spencer had been feeling listless, but without a fever. As soon as his temperature reading showed a fever, he called the hospital. His fiancée has been isolated for monitoring as well.
If you feel as slimed as I do by Donald Trump's nonsense, this tweet from the NBC freelance photographer who has recovered from Ebola should clear the air:
Vox.com has more from him. Well worth the read.
