In 2005, Dr. Scott Gottlieb was appointed the Deputy Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. The Seattle Times was baffled by that choice for the organization whose existence is contrary to Gottlieb's orientation. "
Only a month ago, Dr. Scott Gottlieb was a Wall Street insider, promoting hot biotech stocks to investors. Now Gottlieb holds the No. 2 job at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the federal agency that approves new drugs, oversees their safety and affects the fortunes of companies he once touted. Wall Street likes the appointment of Gottlieb, 33, who believes in faster drug approval and fewer news-release warnings to the public about potential side effects of drugs."
Naturally, he was the person Fox News chose to interview to put any fears to rest that the Republicans are culpable for the current budget shortfalls affecting the CDC and the NIH. It took Gottlieb less than one minute to claim that 'Obamacare' has taken a billion dollars from the budgets of these federal agencies.
A lot of money has been taken from the CDC and put into prevention techniques as part of Obamacare.
Dr. Francis Collins, the head of the National Institutes of Health, said that a decade of stagnant spending has "slowed down" research on all items, including vaccinations for infectious diseases. As a result, he said, the international community has been left playing catch-up on a potentially avoidable humanitarian catastrophe.
Gottlieb praises Dr. Thomas Frieden from the CDC for adapting quickly and making wise changes to procedures involving treating Ebola patients. Gottlieb told Clayton Morris that the choice for Ebola Czar, Ron Klain, was not a good choice because the Obama Administration has a messaging problem. This premise is not open to debate on Fox News, so everyone who appears on the network must parrot the same it's Obama's fault meme.
