When it comes to expressing opinions on gun control, Fox News host Andrea Tantaros said on Thursday that supermodels should keep their mouths shut and their clothes off.

Following the shooting near Parliament in Ottawa, Canada on Tuesday, supermodel Chrissy Teigen made what The Huffington Post called "a good point" about the difference between gun violence in the U.S. and other countries.

"[A]ctive shooting in Canada, or as we call it in america, wednesday," she wrote on Twitter.

"That's not a joke. It is a fact," she added.

But as is usually the case with Fox News, hosts at the network insisted that it was never appropriate to talk about gun safety measures soon after a shooting.

"I do a segment every week on The Five called 'Fool of the Week' at the end of the week," Fox News host Eric Bolling told the hosts of OutNumbered. "I take the most foolish comment either said or tweeted.... I would say she's a prime candidate."

"She should stay on Instagram," OutNumbered host Andrea Tantaros quipped. "Chrissy Teigen is known for, obviously, her lovely bottom, and her food Instagram pictures. She should stick to that."

"This is the problem when models start to talk," Tantaros added. "They play into that dumb model stereotype. Because it's too soon for her to weigh in. And also, conflate gun control, and crime in America with a global war against radical Islamic jihadism."

"She clearly doesn't know about the radical Islamic threat to the nation, she hasn't educated herself. When she does stuff like this, you've just got to shake your head."

However, left-leaning contributor Kirsten Powers argued that "many models are smart, and they should be able to express their views."

"She was upset about what was happening and this is a person that sincerely believes that there's a problem with gun control," Powers explained. "There's no question that it's insensitive, but I suspect that her intent was not to be insensitive."

"If she wants to weigh in on gun control and crime then let's have a debate about the root of crime in America," Tantaros replied.

"But don't do that in the middle of a crisis, in the middle of a tragic moment," co-host Sandra Smith agreed.
