Stephen Colbert made a mockery of Republicans and their continued obstruction on the issue of immigration reform this Monday while giving President Obama a hard time for his decision to delay any executive action on the issue until after the mid-term elections.

Colbert did not spare the president, but his main target for the segment was the Republicans and their failed promises for over a decade now that they're just on the verge of coming together and getting something passed, and if you just wait until next year, they'll be right on top of the issue.

COLBERT: Thankfully House Republicans have done something to combat this menace by doing nothing. Back in June, the president threatened to undo everything that they have never done. […]

Going it alone. That completely undermines our Constitutional system of checks, balances and crippling deadlock. So you can imagine my relief when I saw our “Waffler-in-Chief” fold like a breakfast taco. […]

I'm mad that Obama is delaying immigration reform because he stole that idea from the Republicans. They've had the idea of putting off doing something about immigration reform for over a decade. […]

Yes, a muy importante agenda item. That's why we can't ever pass immigration reform. It would take it off the agenda. But don't lose hope immigrants. Just because our leaders are telling you to wait until next year, doesn't mean it won't happen, as long as you just wait until next year.

Right, John Boehner from last week?

BOEHNER: You know, there's a possibility that Congress could take this issue up next year.

Next year! That's guaranteed! Come on! Next year, guaranteed, that is a possibility. And Boehner gets the immigrant experience because he remembers how many years it took Congress to welcome his people, the tangelo Americans.

Colbert wrapped things up with a visit from his future self, who was still promising the Republicans were going to pass something... next year.
