Maureen Dowd, the go-to-gal of the Fox crowd and New York Times columnist proclaimed,
The president who was elected because he was a hot commodity is now a wet blanket.
In a recent Fox News article, Howard Kurtz lauds praise on Dowd's conclusion that the President of the United States should never golf without wooing Democrats, especially Blue Dogs. He is allegedly suffering from the lowest popularity ratings in his almost six years as POTUS and part of the problem is he appears introspective and maybe even too "uppity" for Fox while he finishes out his scheduled vacation.
At this point in his presidency, Bush far out-vacationed President Obama, but this fact is always overlooked. Kurtz says
“In interviews, nearly two dozen Democratic lawmakers and senior congressional aides suggested that Mr. Obama’s approach has left him with few loyalists to effectively manage the issues erupting abroad and at home and could imperil his efforts to leave a legacy in his final stretch in office.”
Because he is still at Martha's Vineyard, President Obama is showing how unplugged he is from his responsibilities. Unlike the ultra-successful and patriotic George W. Bush, it appears President Obama likes to quietly think before making life-altering decisions. He really should stop being so Presidential and be more of a socialite. Except President Obama should consult with the social-mavens of Fox when deciding who he should hang out with. If they are too Hollywood, he will be labeled a "celebrity" or a "rock star." So which one should it be, Howard? You've critiqued him for his excessive meeting with the press, now he's too distant. Once again with contradicting reports each week, Fox proudly proclaims President Obama can't win, no matter which avenue he chooses.
