Mike Huckabee is one of the right's top choices for the 2016 nomination. Let that one sink in.
Then watch him make an ass of himself with regard to the difference between law and policy.
Huckabee went off on Obama (surprise!) over Israel. "How can you not be angry at what's happening in the Middle East," he fumed. "You've got John Kerry over there treating Hamas like a country and they're a terror organization. It's a violation of American law to negotiate with terrorists and we're doing it."
Uh, what American law is Huckajesus thinking of? There's no law against negotiating with terrorists. That's how we got Bowe Bergdahl back.
President Cheney and VP Bush -- oops, reverse that -- had a policy of not negotiating with terrorists. But if Obama were to have such a policy, he would have had to stop trying to find a compromise with House Republicans. So no, there's no law against negotiating with terrorists, here or there. Policy is not law, and vice versa.
I suppose Huckajesus hasn't considered the fact that Israel is violating international law by lobbing missiles into areas that are primarily civilian. Or that Hamas was elected by the Palestinians in 2006.
Nope, he's just steamed that Kerry is trying to stop the wanton killing of children and their mothers. How Christian of him.
