Joe Scarborough, a usually very dependable Chris Christie apologist, destroyed the New Jersey governor Monday morning on his "Morning Joe" MSNBC program for not meeting with the families of the Sandy Hook massacre after he vetoed a gun magazine bill in a bizarre fashion that would have limited the amount of bullets in a gun magazine from ten to six.
Scarborough: I think it’s kind of chicken "something," which I won’t say on the air. It’s chicken, we’ll say "salad," for Chris Christie to not meet with these families for at least five to 10 minutes, hypocritical. How about being humane? And the reason Chris can't do that is the logic, the ten precious children, it's so convoluted that I don't think he could say that with a straight face. I think he would be embarrassed to say that to parents who lost their children. Saying that if you support only ten, only a clip of ten rounds in a clip that somehow you're saying those ten children aren't precious?
Obviously Christie still plans to run for president in 2016 so Morning Joe also threw support for Tea party favorite Ted Cruz, by praising his efforts to meet with Sandy Hook families even though he's a big NRA supporter.
Fellow co-host Mika Brzezinski said she was disappointed in Christie’s decision because the governor is normally all about “getting face-to-face with people and even having the tough talks,” she said.
Scarborough agreed. “And to somehow say you’re showing care for more children if you’re able to carry around 300 bullets in a magazine instead of ten bullets in a magazine … that’s just absolutely ridiculous,”
Scarborough said. “Chris Christie could have taken a chance and spoken his mind and trusted the voters of the Republican party and I don’t think he would have been disappointed.“He’s running scared that’s what it is … and it’s a sad sight to see.”
